Does the web play an important role in your research? Have you ever discovered the URL to the exact resource you need for your research just to find that it is long gone from the web? If you answered yes to either of these questions, web archives could be useful in your research. This workshop will present different opportunities to use web archives in your scholarly work. Web archives offer the possibility of interacting with the past web, recovering resources that are no longer on the live web, and helping users understand the context of your scholarship. We will discuss strategies for using the Wayback Machine at the Internet Archive, ways to identify topical web archives that might fit your research, and finally how to cite and reference web archives in your writing.
