Event: Drawn Together Film Screening
About this Event
Drawn Together taps into the explosion in the public’s appetite for superhero stories on television and in movies as a gateway. This documentary-style film refocuses common comic themes of doing good for the society and opens a deeper, inclusive dialogue about identity, respect, and representation. By channeling questions about how we view ourselves and others through a creative medium, the viewer is able to confront prejudice and stereotype in a low-risk way.
The screening will be immediately followed by a facilitated discussion. For more information please contact Teresita Hurtado-Ramos at Teresita@unt.edu or Sociology Librarian, Lilly Ramin, at Lilly.Ramin@unt.edu. Learn more at our Diversity & Inclusion guide.
A light lunch will be provided for the first 40 attendees. Attendees are welcome, although not required, to wear cosplay costumes.
