Rescuing Texas History Mini-Grants 2021
The Portal to Texas History is a digital gateway to Texas historical and cultural heritage materials belonging to over 448 partners that include museums, libraries, historical societies, government agencies, and colleges throughout Texas. It is largely due to partner contributions, that the Portal has more than 1,700,000 items consisting of 36 types of materials including photographs, maps, books, letters, manuscripts, artifacts, and newspapers. These materials date from the fifteenth century to the present. The Portal’s mission is to provide free online access to Texas history materials to be used by researchers, educators, students, and the public.

Archival/Cultural Heritage Materials (non-newspapers)
In an effort to expand our understanding the diverse voices that make up Texas’ history, special consideration will be given to materials that illustrate the cultural, political, social, geographic, and/or economic diversity of the state. A select number of projects will be considered this year, with an emphasis give to non-text based Rescuing Texas History projects. This includes any type of print photographs, photo negatives, print or, in some instances, handwritten documents under 12” x 16.”
This year, we will not accept Rescuing Texas History newspaper applications. However, if you do have a newspaper collection you'd like us to work with, Ana Krahmer will help you investigate other options for placing your newspaper collection on the Portal. Please feel free to email her (email@example.com).
