About
The Social Change archives seek to document the experiences and accomplishments of people and organizations that have challenged the status quo for the betterment of humanity. Social change occurs through identifying and confronting root cause problems such as political power structures, corporate influence, and societal beliefs and biases. Through the collection of primary source documents from social change activists and organizations, this archive will be a source for understanding the challenges and solutions to social change in the 20th and 21st century.

Hermine Tobolowsky Equal Legal Rights Collection - Hermine Dalkowitz Tobolowsky (1921-1995), the "Mother of the Texas Equal Rights Amendment" engaged in a relentless campaign beginning in the 1950s to enact legislation to ensure equal legal rights of Texas women and repeal discriminatory Texas laws based on gender.
J.J. Barlow Collection - This collection contains materials on the Black Panther Party, civil rights in the United States, and the 1966 NDEA workshop "America and the Negro: The History of an Encounter" located at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.
Jerry Palmer Collection - The collection consists of textual records, memorabilia, and ephemera created or compiled by Jerry Palmer. The materials relate to Palmer's time as an anti-nuclear activist in Texas from 1979 to 1984 and include instructional and informational booklets, pamphlets, posters and materials for and from protests, occupations, and acts of civil disobedience.
Documenting the History of the Civil Rights Movement in Dallas County Oral History Collection - The Documenting the History of the Civil Rights Movement in Dallas County, Texas Oral History Collection archives the influential individuals who were integral to the local civil rights movement. Each interview focuses on the interviewee’s family and educational history, organizational involvement, and career or personal milestones which affected the local Civil Rights movement.
Brenda Fields Dallas School Desegregation Collection - This collection consists primarily of bound court reports concerning the desegregation of public schools in the Dallas Independent School District as set forth in Tasby v. Estes (N.D. Tex. 1976).
James Patrick Wiseman Collection - This collection contains court case briefs fought by James Patrick Wiseman, a civil rights lawyer from Texas. The cases cover issues related to the LGBT community on college campuses, as well as students right to protest and prisoner rights when held in jail.
[Mary O'Grady Collection] - Papers include training materials from the AIDS Resource Center in Dallas, correspondence between O’Grady and prisoners on Death Row, deposition information in court cases, Abortion rights activism, and coverage of Ann Richards (Democratic Governor of Texas). The files mainly cover the years between 1985-2015.

Digital Collection: Student Demonstration Poster Collection - This collection is comprised of large posters created by students of the University of North Texas in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement.
Digital Collection: Karen B. Alexander Collection of Protest Literature - Materials consist of general political, general social, feminist, communalist, black, educational, and environmental protest literature as well as literature on the Southern Educational Conference Fund and the Women's National Abortion Action Coalition.
Digital Collection: Denton Fracking Referendum Collection - This collection contains web-based articles, born digital audio files of oral histories, born digital transcripts, and physical ephemera related to the Denton Fracking Ban.
Digital Collection: Texas Association for Bilingual Education Video Collection - Videos of interviews with Texas bilingual educators, as well as footage from special events related to the Texas Association for Bilingual Education's (TABE) mission
