Identifiers for scholarly publications: ISBNs and DOIs

Scholarly publishing can involve use of various identifiers for works. The UNT Libraries assigns identifiers for certain publications produced at UNT.

ISBNs

ISBNs are useful for identifying books and other non-serial publications sold in print and digital form. The UNT Libraries can assign ISBNs for publications published by other units of UNT.

DOIs

The UNT Libraries is a member of CrossRef, a DOI registration agency for scholarly and professional research content. We assign DOIs for scholarly publications hosted by the UNT Libraries and ensure that the DOI redirects to the current online location of the content. The following namespaces have been used or are reserved for future use:

  • tef.
  • sps.
  • journals.
