Recall Policy

Summary
This document describes the policies and procedures regarding recall of regular circulating items.
Definitions
- Regular Circulating Items: Library materials that are circulated according to the Borrowing Books and Music Materials Policy.
- Recall: A process in which items checked out to patrons are required to be returned to the library prior to the original due date.
- Reserves: Any material placed on reserve as required or recommended reading for a course. These materials have a shorter loan period than regular circulating materials.
Recall Eligibility
Regular circulating library materials are subject to be recalled by library staff members for course reserves or other special circumstances.
Due Dates
Recalled items will be due 10 calendar days from the recall date or due on the original due date, whichever is soonest.
Notification
- A recall notice will be sent to individuals with recalled items through e-mail when the items are recalled.
- An overdue notice will be sent to individuals with overdue recalled items through e-mail when items are 7 days overdue.
- A second overdue notice will be sent through e-mail when items are 14 days overdue.
Regardless of whether or not these notices are received, it is the borrower’s responsibility to return the material to the Libraries by the recalled due date.
Renewals
Recalled items are not eligible for renewal.
Late Recall Fees
Patrons who fail to return a recalled item by the due date will incur a $10.00 Late Recall Fee. See the Fines Assessment Policy for more information.
