About
The University of North Texas (UNT) Libraries subscribe to thousands of journals, e-books, and databases for noncommercial use by the UNT community. Most of these electronic resources are subject to certain terms in license agreements between UNT and the publisher.
If these terms are not followed, the publisher could suspend UNT’s access for all users. Below are outlined some common generally allowed uses and restrictions. Please contact the UNT Libraries at Lib.License@unt.edu if you have questions about the terms of a specific e-resource or whether a potential use is allowed.
Generally Allowed Uses
- Authorized users (generally students, employees, and people physically in the building) may access and use licensed electronic resources.
- Using e-resources for educational and research purposes such as coursework, private study, non-commercial research, and teaching.
- Viewing, downloading, copying, printing, and/or saving a copy of an article or other materials for personal use.
- Sharing a link to the resource.
- Modifying materials to make them accessible for users with disabilities.
- Uses consistent with the Fair Use provisions of the U.S. Copyright Act. For more information, visit our Copyright Quick Reference Guide for Fair Use.

- Do not share passwords or logins with anyone else.
- Do not share materials with unauthorized users via email, social media, or otherwise.
- Do not remove, block out, or change copyright notices on the material.
