Purpose:

The Undergraduate and Graduate Student Library Ambassador Boards provide a forum for discussion and suggestions regarding all aspects of the Libraries. Ambassadors help identify and organize events and initiatives that promote student engagement and raise peer awareness of library services, resources, and programming. Ambassadors work collaboratively with library faculty and staff to ensure library spaces and events are welcoming, supportive, and inclusive.

Benefits of Being a Library Ambassador:

• Develop leadership skills by cultivating relationships with peers.
• Participate in extracurricular service opportunities and collaborate with library faculty and staff.
• Act as a voice and conduit of students’ thoughts, ideas, and needs as they relate to the Libraries.
• Provide recommendations on new library services, programs, policies, resources, collections, and facilities.
• Gain valuable career readiness skills such as communication, leadership, professionalism, and teamwork.

Board Membership:

Library faculty/staff members are appointed by the Associate Dean for Public Services to serve as board advisors. Students may apply for membership by filling out the Student Library Ambassador Board Membership Application. Membership terms are for one academic year.

Meetings:

Required meetings take place twice a semester (Zoom option available as needed). The Boards plan and host finals week events for the campus community during the Fall and Spring Semesters.
