Highlights of specific items in the collections: Century of Progress International
Exposition (1933-1934: Chicago, Ill.)
Brass-colored metal ashtray produced as a commemorative souvenir of the Century of Progress World's Fair, held in Chicago, Illinois from May 17, 1933 to November 12, 1933, and reopened May 16 to October 31, 1934. The center of the ashtray has representations of various buildings constructed for the Fair: The Administration Building, The Hall of Science and The Travel and Transport Building. There is also a representation at top of an airplane, and at top left a representation of the logo of the fair. On the reverse is the maker's mark.
