Highlights of specific items in the collections: Century of Progress International
Exposition (1933-1934: Chicago, Ill.)
Copper metal ashtray produced as a commemorative souvenir of the Chrysler Motor Exhibit of the Century of Progress World's Fair, held in Chicago, Illinois from May 17, 1933 to November 12, 1933, and reopened May 16 to October 31, 1934. The center of the ashtray has representations of the Chrysler pavilion.
The ashtray is accompanied by it's original box, which functioned as a mailer, so that visitors to the fair could mail it back to friends and family as a souvenir.
The sides of the box list different models produced by Chrysler. The reverse is unmarked.
