Highlights of specific items in the collections: New Jersey Society Sons of the American
Revolution
Badge of cloth, metal, celluloid(?) and paper. This badge was worn by attendees at the February 22, 1892 celebrations for the anniversary of George Washington at Nedwark, New Jersey. A major focus of the activities of the Sons of the American Revolution is the recognition and remembrance of the deeds of the men and women who helped create the United States of America. In addition to their many programs, they have also sponsored the creation of monuments, markers, and plaques remembering the heroes of the Revolution. This ribbon is from such an event.
At the center of the ribbon is affixed a plaque of celluoid(?) with an image of George Washington. Beneath the plaque is the arms of the Society.
