Highlights of specific items in the collections: National Society Sons of the American
Revolution
Throughout the first half of the 20th century, delegates and their families attending the Annual Congresses of the Sons of the American Revolution would receive ornate badges to wear as name-badges, and as souvenirs of the Congress.
This particular example, from the 22nd Annual Congress, held in Louisville, Kentucky, features a portrait of George Rodgers Clark on the front of the pendant.
The reverse of the pendant has the badge of the Society, and an inscription identifying the Congress.
The badge is still affixed to it's original card, which has instructions on the wearing of the badge. This badge was collected by Mr. Clovis H. Brakebill, a former President General of the Sons of the American Revolution. Mr. Brakebill gave it to Dr. James J. Johnson, who deposited it in the TXSSAR Archives in March 2004.
