Highlights of specific items in the collections: National Society Sons of the American
Revolution
This example of the Good Citizenship Award was presented in 1955 to Roger Payne. It consists of a circular bronze pendant suspended from a white, yellow, and blue ribbon, with pin on the reverse of the ribbon for wearing. The medal is preserved in its original white cardstock case. The front of the bronze pendant has an image of the Minuteman flanked by the Liberty Bell and the date 1776. Around him is inscribed "The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution". Below is the phrase "Good Citizenship Medal"
The reverse of the pendant has a border of laurel, and the inscription "Our Inspiration is from the past, our duty is in the present, our hope is in the future", and has been engraved with Mr. Payne's name and the date of presentation.
On the edge of the pendant is the mark of the maker, Balfour. This piece presented to the TXSSAR Archives in memory of Compatriot Clark Gray, President, North Central Texas Chapter No. 36.
