TXSSAR Awards Good Citizenship 1940

This example of the Good Citizenship Award was presented in 1940 to Lt. Gale B. Cohill.  The front of the circular bronze medallion depicts the Minuteman flanked by the Liberty Bell and the date 1776.  Around him is inscribed "The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution".  Below is the phrase "Good Citizenship Medal."

The reverse of the pendant has a border of laurel, and the inscription "Our Inspiration is from the past, our duty is in the present, our hope is in the future", and has been engraved with Lt. Cohill's name and the date of presentation.  The medallion shows a middle initial of "P", which has been changed to a "B" with scratches.

Gale B. Cohill (1918-1988) attended Charlotte Hall Military Academy, served with the U.S. Air Force from 1942 to 1945, and was a member of the House of Delegates, Washington County, Maryland.

This example of a Good Citizenship Medallion is deposited with the TXSSAR Archives in honor of Tom Whitelock, and his work on behalf of the TXSSAR Archives in helping to preserve the history and heritage of the Texas Society Sons of the American Revolution.
