Use Your Phone to Create Professional Headshots

Resumes. LinkedIn profiles. Modeling portfolios. The uses for professional headshots are limitless; it’s almost a guarantee you’ll need one at some point in your career. But having someone take it for you can get expensive. Why not learn to take one with your mobile device instead?

You will learn how to:

  • Scout out great backgrounds

  • Use lighting to highlight your best features

  • Self-posing techniques

  • Edit your portrait in Photoshop in order to show the best you to potential employers.

Unity: Custom Virtual Reality Space

Video game development is impossible without a game engine to build it on. More than 1.3 million developers use the Unity engine on platforms as basic as mobile devices to the cutting edge of virtual reality headsets. Its versatility makes it a great way to learn how to make games of your own!

Introduction to Soldering

Wednesday, February 21 at 11 a.m. at Discovery Park Library

Soldering is the process of joining two pieces of metal together using a filler metal called a solder. With so much heat and careful work involved, it’s important to learn safety tips as well as the basics before setting out on your soldering journey alone.

In this workshop, we will cover important safety awareness when using solder and soldering tools. Then join us in building a kit to teach the foundation for through-hole soldering techniques. After you have successfully assembled the kit, you will have a greater knowledge of through-hole soldering and the tools, techniques, and terminology required to populate your own PCB prototype.

You will learn how to:

  • Practice safety awareness while soldering
  • Use solders and soldering tools
  • Build a kit with through-hole soldering techniques
  • Populate your own PCB prototype safely and correctly
