DESCRIPTION: This report uses data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Fatal Accident Reporting System to characterize intoxicated pedestrians killed in motor-vehicle-related crashes. Death rates are broken down by sex, age, rural versus urban areas, posted speed limit, and type of roadway. Intervention techniques to reduce the number of intoxicated pedestrians are discussed.
