This two-day course is intended to teach information, skills, and tools needed to plan and design pedestrian facilities and programs. The workshop includes lectures, discussions, case studies, and class projects. Each participant receives a reference manual containing comprehensive coverage of all presented topics. Program contents include issues in pedestrian mobility and safety, pedestrian planning principles and strategies, pedestrian facility capacity analysis, pedestrian facility design concepts and criteria, implications of the "Americans with Disabilities Act", traffic calming techniques, and school trip safety programs and improvements.
