For
an up-to-date look at the showcase workshop schedules, check the on-line
SHRP Information Clearinghouse. The Clearinghouse also contains timely
information on the full range of SHRP implementation activities, as well
as a directory of people involved in those activities. To request a free
copy of the software needed to access the Clearinghouse, call Kimeerly
Moody at 202-682-3739 (fax: 202-682-2535). The software runs on IBM-compatible
computers and requires a 9600-baud or faster modem.
The
long-term pavement performance (LTPP) studies have a new logo. The logo
has a familiar shape, designed to emphasize the LTPP studies' tie to the
Strategic Highway Research Program.
ERES Consultants has been awarded the data analysis contract for the long-term pavement performance studies. Brent Rauhut Engineering is a key subcontractor. Shiraz Tayabji of ERES will serve as the principal investigator; Brent Rauhut and ERES's Mike Darder will serve as coprincipal investigators. An expert task group, composed of representatives from State highway agencies, industry, and FHWA, is being formed to serve as a resource and advisory panel for the LTPP analysis work. The ETG will help set priorities, develop tasks, review progress, and evaluate deliverables.
The Superpave software, originally developed under SHRP, is currently undergoing further refinement and evaluation. A Windows-based version of the Superpave volumetric mix design software will be available in January 1997. A limited-feature prototype of original SHRP software, which runs under DOS, will be available this summer.
