Please join us when Edward Etkins, a UNT Special Collections 2019 Research Fellowship Awardee, will give his lecture, “The Music of Maynard Ferguson.”

Edward Etkins is a graduate of the Philadelphia Musical Academy, where he received his BM and BME. Edward achieved his Master of Music degree from Arcadia University, where he currently is an adjunct professor of music. He also completed graduate studies at Rutgers University.

Project Title: The Music of Maynard Ferguson

Project Description: An overview of the Maynard Ferguson Collection at UNT with an emphasis on the Ferguson Band from 1957 through 1969. This period is referred to as the “Roulette” era. The project is a look at the arrangers, composers, and their music in an aural and visual presentation.
