Event: Spotlight on North Texas
About this Event
Join the UNT Media Library at the historic Texas Theatre for a rare 16mm presentation of the Dallas sci-fi cult classic, Mars Needs Women (1967).
Shot on-location in Dallas and starring Oak Cliff native Yvonne Craig (Batgirl), Mars Needs Women is a campy low-budget film about Martians visiting Texas to find women to bring back to Mars to save their civilization from extinction.
This screening is brought to you by “Spotlight on North Texas,” a program committed to preserving and providing access to North Texas’ motion picture histories. Spotlight on North Texas is a collaboration with the Texas Archive of the Moving Image and is funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
This screening was made possible by a print loaned from the UCLA Film & Television Archive.
This screening will begin with a selection of never-before-seen Texas footage preserved by this project and will be followed by a Q&A with special guest Jeff Buchanan.
The screening is free and open to the public. Directions to and parking information for The Texas Theatre can be found here.
