TE-27 SHRP Pavement Maintenance
Preserving the System
Please do not send comments. The UNT Libraries archived this site as part of the CyberCemetery in November 1999.
If you experience any technical problems using this site, please let us know.

This effort consists of two contracts that provide the States an opportunity to evaluate SHRP related pavement maintenance products by introducing preventive pavement maintenance technologies and principles. Both contracts offer technical assistance to States that are participating in a nationwide evaluation effort sponsored by FHWA.

  • Preventive Maintenance Treatments: management concepts, optimum timing of various surface treatment applications, and technical guidance for various preventive maintenance treatments.

  • Innovative Materials: management concepts, pothole patching, crack and joint sealing, spall repair, and other materials.

The first phase of both contracts included conducting workshops showcasing various SHRP related materials and procedures; this phase has been completed. A national test and evaluation phase is now underway. This phase offers selected States the opportunity to evaluate treatments under their own procedures and site conditions. Technical assistance is available to all participating States. This effort is expected to conclude by the end of 1998.
